I have an amazing wife, Allison. She serves as the Coordinator of Federal Programs in Carroll ISD. We have three children – two sons, Manning and Camden, and a daughter, Sophie.
Old Union Elementary has a talented staff and wonderful community of parents and students. I am honored to lead such a wonderful campus!

I feel very blessed and honored to be chosen to help serve the students and families of Old Union Elementary School and looking forward to a great school year.

Emily Casdorph, Counselor
My name is Emily Casdorph and I am excited to be returning to the OUES family for my third year! I was a school counselor for 12 years in Virginia before moving to Texas. I graduated with my bachelor's degree from James Madison University. I became a "double Duke" and earned my Master's and Educational Specialist degrees in School Counseling in 2011 from James Madison University. In addition to being a school counselor, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor.
I am married to Dave Casdorph and have two children. My son, Owen, is 11 and will be a 5th grader and my daughter, Cora, is 7 and in 2nd grade.
As a school counselor, I believe in strong relationships with students, staff, and parents. I am available and happy to listen when parents and staff have concerns. I also feel it is important to have an open door for students when they need support or a listening ear. I also feel it is important to have an open door for students when they need support or a listening ear. In the school counseling role, I am able to support students in various ways such as classroom guidance lessons, group meetings, and individual meetings.
Please stop by and say hello! I am looking forward to another great year!

Gracie Fike, Therapy Dog
Gracie Fike—our two and a half year old English Crème Golden Retriever—is returning for another year of spreading smiles at OUES! You’ll usually find her greeting students from the front office (she takes her receptionist duties very seriously). Wherever Gracie roams, she’s always accompanied by a adult handler for everyone’s safety and comfort.
Gracie is a registered therapy‑dog team member with Pet Partners, the nation’s leader in animal‑assisted interventions. Their mission is to improve human health and well‑being through the human‑animal bond, and Gracie is living proof of that mission in action.
Why Gracie’s visits matter:
-
Boosts social & personal skills – friendly furry ice‑breaker.
-
Teaches calming strategies – petting a dog lowers stress.
-
Builds self‑esteem – dogs don’t judge spelling tests.
-
Models positive human‑animal interactions – kindness is contagious.
